Manchester City fans around the Tavern may be casting their minds back to last January when they spent £30 million on Wilfried Bony after reports that their club could be set to make a similarly valued bid for in-form Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy, according to The Telegraph.
The 28-year old , who recently broke the Premier League record for the most consecutive games with a goal, currently sits at the top of the goalscoring charts and has attracted the attentions of several of the top English sides.
The Leicester talisman has netted 15 league goals already this season, and despite Chelsea’s firm interest, Vardy has reportedly been the subject of a ‘tentative inquiry’ from Manuel Pellegrini’s side.
With City’s star striker Sergio Aguero struggling for fitness this season, rumours seem to suggest that the Blues are on the lookout for a top striker to bolster their squad in the second half of the season.
Backup forward Wilfried Bony, who was also a £30 million January signing for City, has failed to impress on a regular basis, despite his impressive record at former club Swansea City, which could perhaps ultimately sway Pellegrini away from purchasing the Englishman.
City fans, would Vardy’s arrival guarantee you the Premier League title? Let us know in the comments below!
