Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have finally received good news after the Daily Star revealed that James Milner has declined a contract from City to join Liverpool.
The 29-year-old has rejected City’s interest because Brendan Rodgers has turned his head with the temptation of a four-year deal worth up to £165,000 a week.
The deal is also believed to include plenty of bonuses, which would make him one of the highest paid English players in the league, putting him just behind Sergio Aguero’s and Yaya Toure’s current pay slips.
Pellegrini is desperate to keep hold of Milner, not only is he an inspirational member of the squad, but he would also boost the number of home grown players.
And having more English players in the squad is a priority for the Chilean boss as he looks to change the whole ethos at the Etihad.
Punters in the Tavern are confident that the fact he is guaranteed more game time at Anfield is bigger incentive than the big wage packet for the midfielder.
