Manchester City have an interesting few years ahead of them as manager Pep Guardiola seeks to rebuild a side which has a few ageing players.

The likes of David Silva, Fernandinho and Sergio Aguero are all coming to the latter stages of their career, and Guardiola will be fully aware he needs to make some shrewd moves over the next few windows to bring in adequate long-term replacements.

One of the more experienced players who has already moved away from the club is Vincent Kompany, with the City skipper taking a step into management with former club Anderlecht back in his homeland.

This weekend then has seen stories emerge that could see City make a mega-money move for Leicester City and England defender Harry Maguire, who has been putting in superb performances for the last couple of years for both club and country.

Maguire's stock has consistently risen since he made the move to the King Power Stadium, and while rivals United want to sign the big defender, City can make a real stand against their rivals by snatching him from under their noses.

It's not just his performances for the Foxes which have caught the eye of City though, it's the overall package you get with Maguire.

A player who off the field seems like a calming presence with a level headed approach, he is exactly the sort of player who you would assume would take the pressure of a move to a club like City in his stride.

Maguire has stepped into the England fold with considerable ease, and as well as his height, strength and aerial dominance, he has also displayed the type of ball playing ability which Guardiola covets, with Maguire's pass completion success rate up at the 85% mark for last season.

We have seen City spend big in the past, but this might just prove to be one of their shrewdest moves yet if they can pull it off.
