Manchester City went out and splashed the cash in the summer once again, leading to our City fans here in the Tavern beaming with delight at what this season might deliver in terms of success.
Players like Bernardo Silva and Kyle Walker were brought in for big money, while the likes of David Silva and Sergio Aguero all remained at the club to give City one of the strongest looking squads in the Premier League.
However, one name who stood out and was not a big money buy or recognised household name is young midfield starlet Phil Foden.
Foden came from nowhere to be included in City’s pre season tours abroad and has impressed his manager with a string of excellent performances as well as an apparent willingness to improve and listen to his coach.
There is still work to be done on the teenager, but one thing which could really help Foden out could be a loan spell away from the Etihad. There will be plenty of Championship clubs and League One clubs no doubt willing to take a punt on the midfielder, and it could well be the making of him.
The chance to play regular football at a professional level and to a good standard might well be the ideal scenario this year for Foden and his manager.
City fans, what do you think to Foden? Would a loan spell be useful? Let us know!
