Manchester City fans are voicing their concerns in Football Transfer Tavern after the Daily Star revealed that Frank Lampard has not yet spoken to the City hierarchy about extending his Etihad Stadium stay.
As things stand, the 36-year-old is set to return his parent club New York City FC next month as they begin to prepare for the new MLS season in March.
After scoring in City’s win against Southampton, Manuel Pellegrini has said that he would like the directors to do everything in their power to extend the former England international’s stay with the Citizens.
“I haven’t spoke to them on that front at all, I’ve been concentrating week to week and getting fit when I was injured for a while,” Lampard said.
“I’m not looking that far ahead. It’s nice that they are saying that, it’s much better saying that than saying they can’t wait for me to go! We’ll see what happens about that one.”
Lampard seems to be fully focused in City’s challenge for the title this season as they continue to hunt down Chelsea and punters feel this passion could result in him staying.
He added: “We all look at tables during the week, and we are disappointed with where we are for a club like City, but we have to keep winning, keep moving forwards and go game by game.”
