Manchester City fans are already looking forward to the new season under incoming manager Manuel Pellegrini and today’s news that the club have started talks to bring Sevilla winger Jesus Navas to the club have pleased fans in the Football Transfer Tavern.
The Andalucians are understood to be willing to sell Navas to the Premier League side rather than seeing him leave to join La Liga rivals Real Madrid and with the 27-year-old reaching the peak of his career, he could be set to leave this season.
According to Spanish paper Marca, City’s sporting director Txiki Begiristain and chief executive Ferrán Soriano were in Seville on Thursday to hold discussions about a move for Navas with the Spanish team sports director, Monchi.
While there was reportedly some disagreement over the price of the player, with City wanting to pay around £20 million but Sevilla demanding £25 million, the signs are good to see City land the Spain international during the summer months.
City could also land Malaga star Isco as Pellegrini looks to make his mark on his new side as he seeks to wrestle the Premier League title back off Manchester United.
