Fans of both Manchester based clubs are drowning their sorrows in the Football Transfer Tavern after watching their respective sides defeated in surprising circumstances yesterday.
Punters in the tavern were left shocked when Aston Villa came from behind to beat Manuel Pellegrini’s City side while United suffered another embarrassing defeat for new manager David Moyes as West Bromwich Albion put a lacklustre Red Devils performance to the sword.
Now Metro reports that City could move for Red Devils wonderkid Adnan Januzaj in January and are willing to triple his current salary to entice him to the Etihad Stadium.
The Belgian midfielder came off the bench at half time yesterday but couldn’t prevent another a United defeat as their slow start to the season worsens.
He is currently holding talks with officials from Old Trafford about a new contract but now City have entered proceedings and are wanting to snatch him away from United.
Pellegrini wants to see the youngster plying his trade in the blue half of Manchester and the club are willing to put together a deal worth £45,000-a-week if he leaves United.
Moyes admitted on Friday that he was aware of ‘external influences’ in deciding Januzaj’s future, and suggested that the Premier League champions face a battle to sign him up.
“Adnan is keen to stay, but he has some external influences round him,” Moyes said.
“We really think an awful lot of him.”
