Manchester City supporters were left excited yesterday when Manuel Pellegrini revealed that one more arrival was expected at the Etihad Stadium before the window slams shut tomorrow.
Sky Sports now suggest that City will add Atletico Madrid defender Martin Demichelis to their ranks. The vastly experienced centre back, who played under Pellegrini at Malaga, is having a medical ahead of a move to the former Premier League champions.
The Argentine international will reportedly cost City around £4 million and provide them with a suitable replacement for Kolo Toure, who departed for Liverpool during the summer.
City looked weak in defence yesterday during their hard-fought 2-0 victory over Hull City and captain Vincent Kompany is set to miss the next six weeks.
Pellegrini was rumoured to be interested in Real Madrid’s Pepe but now turns his attentions to a player he knows well from their time together at Malaga.
Demichelis actually only signed for Atletico two months ago after his contract at Malaga, for whom he played 83 times, scoring eight goals.
The 32-year-old played nearly 250 times in Germany for Bayern Munich and has also collected 37 caps for his country.
