Manchester City press ahead in their bid to sign Yaya Toure replacement

The Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern have been discussing the best players of the recent golden era and one name comes up quite often. Yaya Toure is considered to be one of the all time greats for Man City, even though he features sporadically nowadays. Manchester City are still waiting to sign a player who can become Toure’s long term successor.

And, according to an exclusive report by The Sun, Manchester City are ready to snap up Boubakary Soumare from Lille. Pep Guardiola is desperate to sign Soumare and Man City’s Brian Marwood was present to watch the young midfielder in action against Rennes last Wednesday.

The 18-year-old only moved to Lille in the summer from Paris Saint-Germain but has broken into the first team picture for the French Ligue 1 outfit.

The France under-19 international has impressed with dominant midfield displays and his box-to-box nature and 6ft 2in frame have earned him comparisons with Paul Pogba and Yaya Toure.

Everton and Leicester City are reportedly also keen on signing the talented teenager but Manchester City are set to press ahead with this deal so that they can steal a march on their Premier League counterparts and wrap this up.

Lille reportedly want £25m for Soumare.

The Verdict

At the age of 18, Soumare is bossing the midfield in Ligue 1. The step up to the Premier League seems like the next logical step and can any young, promising player resist the chance to work with Guardiola? It seems like Soumare would be on the verge of being first team ready with his current performances and before long, he could be a Premier League sensation.
