There are smiles on the faces of Manchester City fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern as it is claimed by the Daily Mail that the club are definitely after Napoli’s Edinson Cavani this summer.
The Citizens have been a very distant second to Manchester United this season and despite the chance to win yet another FA Cup, they have endured a simply awful campaign in the Champions League and have been lacking in goals big time this season.
Whilst people enjoyed blaming Mario Balotelli for this situation before he left for AC Milan and became the single reason why they are four points clear for the third spot in Serie A, they now have no scapegoat and it is very clear that both Carlos Tevez and Sergio Aguero have been lacking in terms of consistent form this term. This is not to mention that despite only having a handful of starts, Edin Dzeko is their top scorer.
Now Roberto Mancini has turned his attention to the forward everyone is talking about – Napoli star Cavani and will look to smash everyone else out of the water in order to land his number one target this summer. Not only does the Italian have to worry about Manchester United next season and the third Welsh side in the Premier League – Gareth Bale, he may also has to contend with the return of the Special One Jose Mourinho and does not want anything left to chance.
