Manchester City fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are left scratching their heads after the Guardian explained how City are set for an exodus of players.
The number floating around the Tavern is 13!
Their average age highlights why the club is in need of a shake up, with Sergio Aguero being the only player aged below 27 in the line up who started against Barcelona.
Manuel Pellegrini is the man facing the brunt of this criticism as he has signed a whole host of players with only Martin Demichelis and Fernandinho only considered as successful acquisitions.
Since the end of the 2013 season, City have bought Mangala (£42m) plus Jesús Navas (£14.9m), Stevan Jovetic (£22m), Álvaro Negredo (£20m), Fernando (£12m), Bacary Sagna (free), Frank Lampard (free), Willy Caballero (£6m), Bruno Zuculini (£3m).
With none of the players above being considered as youthful players, City have the tough task of turning this squad on its head.
As our landlord quips, it is also staggering to think that none of the players mentioned above have really had a massive impact on the squad, making their acquisition of players poor!
And the list of players who could leave at the end of the season are…
Yaya Touré, Edin Dzeko, Sagna, Demichelis, Aleksandar Kolarov, Micah Richards, James Milner, Samir Nasri, Jovetic, Pablo Zabaleta, Navas, Gaël Clichy and Fernando.
