The Daily Mail have noted today that Manchester City could well be set to land a forward this week, causing interested looks here in the Football Transfer Tavern.
The publication feel that the blue half of Manchester have now firmly set their sights on Sevilla forward Alvaro Negredo and will pay up to £20 million to finally land the forward.
Having missed out on a host of other top targets such as Edinson Cavani, the club are keen to show their intent this summer and also back new manager Manuel Pellegrini.
Given that the side have already sold not only Mario Balotelli in January but now also Carlos Tevez to Juventus, they are in desperate need of a top class forward.
Pellegrini may well be keen to hand another chance to Edin Dzeko but the former Malaga manger is fully aware that he needs more firepower up top if he is to contend with the likes of Chelsea and defending Champions Manchester United next season.
