The Sun‘s Shaun Custis enters the Football Transfer Tavern in a jovial mood today as he brings punters exclusive news that Manchester City are on the verge of signing Fiorentina striker Stevan Jovetic.
The 23-year-old is likely to sign a five-year deal worth £120,000-a-week wages after the two clubs agreed a fee thought to be around £27 million for the Montenegrin forward which will see him make the switch to the Etihad Stadium this summer.
New City boss Manuel Pellegrini has been seeking a replacement for Carlos Tevez, who has departed for Juventus, and has outlined a move for Jovetic as the perfect man to replace the controversial Argentine striker.
A source close to the Montenegro star has now told Custis: “It’s pretty much sorted he’ll go to City.
“They just have to sort his contract. It shouldn’t be a big problem.”
The possible signing will take summer spending for the Citizens over £70 million after the captures of Jesus Navas and Fernandinho earlier in the transfer window as the club look to wrestle back the Premier League title off their Manchester rivals.
