Manchester City are fresh off the back of their first loss of the Premier League season following a thrilling 4-3 with Liverpool, and manager Pep Guardiola will be hoping his side can get back to winning ways next time out.
The Citizens have been superb all season, and their fans here in the Tavern have been enjoying some quite breathtaking football at times.
However, and our landlord here agrees, their defensive frailties are often still too often on show, and that was the case against Liverpool, with John Stones in particular having a bit of a nightmare.
Our gaffer thinks that could be the final straw for the England man, and he’s convinced that City need to go out and buy a proven central defender who will also compliment Pep’s passing style.
One man who could be available amid all the turmoil going on in Madrid at the moment is Spanish World Cup winner Sergio Ramos, who is entering the latter years of his career but remains a classy operator and one of the world’s finest centre halves on his day.
Ramos would bring experience, knowhow, and class to a back four which can sometimes appear lacklustre and lazy. He might be a bit of a hot head, and has history with Pep following their clashes in Spain, but he would no doubt improve the City team, something which is hard to do at the moment.
If City can somehow convince Madrid to sell, then Ramos could be the perfect signing for the club.
