Manchester City finished the season in good form and will be confident of going into next term and making a more sustained challenge for the Premier League title under Pep Guardiola.
The club are likely to enter the transfer market this summer in what is expected to be a busy one for the Premier League overall, and City will no doubt want to add some real quality to their ranks to aid next season’s cause.
Our landlord has been having some good chatter over at the bar this week with the City fans here in the Tavern, and many of them are excited to see just what names they will be linked with during the window.
One player who our landlord dropped into conversation which got tails wagging was Real Madrid and Croatia star Luka Modric, who is valued at £38.25m by Transfermarkt.
The classy little central midfielder has developed into one of the worlds best in his position since leaving Spurs for the Bernabeu, and he really is someone who can control and run a game on his own at times.
Although Madrid are likely to be reluctant to sell one of their better players, Man City have the money to be maybe even turn the head of both the player and the Spanish club when it comes to cash on the table.
Modric is the sort of player who would make a huge impact back in the Premier League, and could well have a point to prove back in England, where he might well be keen to try and win the Premier League title.
City fans, what do you think? How good would Modric be? Let us know!
