Manchester City continue their march towards the Premier League title and will be delighted with the possibility of sealing the deal against rivals United in a few weeks time.
Without a game this weekend, the Citizens will be hoping to come back refreshed following a well earned break, and manager Pep Guardiola will no doubt use the downtime wisely to assess his squad, and potentially even think to the future and what improvements he can make.
Here in the Tavern, our landlord has been firmly expecting the club to venture into the market once more in the summer, and he thinks one area that Pep might look to add some quality to is in the middle of the park.
With Yaya Toure likely to be on his way out, and David Silva not getting any younger, he thinks the club should make a move for former Spurs and current Real Madrid star Luka Modric.
Granted, Modric is into his 30s now, but his talent is unrelenting. The Croat has a tremendous ability to control a game from the middle of the park, and fits right into the style of play that Guardiola employs at City.
Gifted with the ball, bags of experience, and a winner, Modric would be the perfect sort of addition at the Etihad, and is one of few players in world football who can come in and have a genuine impact on the City team in terms of improvement.
City fans, what do you think? Would you take Modric? Let us know in the comments!
