Manchester City are set for a busy summer and the way manager Pep Guardiola has started, we can expect a flurry of further arrivals as the weeks role on.
The City fans lining the bar here in the pub have been delighted with their manager’s keenness to add to the ranks early on, with the former Barcelona coach already bringing in Monaco playmaker Bernardo Silva and goalkeeper Ederson.
But as with any club, new arrivals means players currently on the books get pushed further down the pecking order and that’s certainly been the case for young goalkeeper Angus Gunn.
The England youth star will be playing his football with Norwich City in the Championship next season as he looks to continue his development.
Despite being promoted to the City first-team last season, he failed to make a first-team appearance and he’s admitted in an interview with TalkSport that it’s been difficult to make that all-important breakthrough.
“I found it difficult at Manchester City to get a chance because of the quality of player there,” he told talkSPORT.
“Maybe a few of the lads here with England are in a similar situation. If you are not pushing for a start in the Premier League then you need to be looking for football elsewhere.
“It is part of growing up and being a younger player at a Premier League club,” he added.
Gunn is one of the most promising young keepers in England and there’s thought amongst City fans that with consistent game-time, he could be the answer to their recent goalkeeping woes in the future.
