Here in the Football Transfer Tavern the Metro seem to think that Manchester City forward Edin Dzeko will be staying at the club this summer
The striker has been linked with many moves away from the club and it had seemed a transfer was imminent. Now despite the arrivals of the likes of Alvaro Negredo and Stevan Jovetic, not to mention Sergio Aguero still being at the club, the forward has told City TV he feels like he has a new lease of life under Chilean Pellegrini and noted that
‘I feel different, better. I feel the I have more confidence, the manager gives me more confidence. That is an important thing.’
When asked if that support was important, Dzeko said: ‘Of course it is. I think you can see on the pitch how I play.
‘I feel different, also because you know someone who is important has trusted you. It is good, for now it is looking good.’
Clearly Dzeko seems happier at City now under his new manager and as we all know, he was not entirely comfortable under Italian Roberto Mancini, often being passed over in favour of the other strikers in the team – most notably golf loving Carlos Tevez and Mancini’s personal favourite Mario Balotelli. This season however, the forward seems to believe that will not be the case and is looking forwards to an extended stay at the club – not the move away many had mooted.
