It was only yesterday here in the Football Transfer Tavern that we were remarking on the potential transfer of Manchester City’s Carlos Tevez to Serie A and now it seems that according to the Daily Mail, the striker could well be on his way to Turin.
We were still reeling from the news that Juventus officials had flown into Manchester to meet with Manchester City yet it seems the Italians move fast, with a bid now expected to be on the table for the wantaway Argentine forward.
Juve are believed to be offering a bargain fee of £10 million for the forward and are willing to give 29-year-old Tevez a three-year deal after a medical is passed – something believed to be happening today.
New Citizens boss Manuel Pellegrini is keen to see the player sold not only to free up space in his squad and generate money for transfers elsewhere but also to signal the start of his reign at the club – where only players who want to give their all for the club will be allowed to stay.
Given that a removals van was seen outside of the player’s house in footballers’ mecca – Alderly Edge only last Friday, the move does not come as a shock to most punters here in the tavern and as one of our regulars at the bar quips, Juve probably clinched the deal with Tevez by showing him the golf ranges in the Turin vicinity!.
Have Juventus got themselves a bargain in signing Tevez for just £10 million? Is he worth more? Let us know your thoughts below.
