There is no shock here in the Football Transfer Tavern after it was confirmed that Manchester City forward Carlos Tevez has made the switch to Serie A Champions, Juventus as reported by the Daily Mail.
The Citizens already allowed Mario Balotelli to leave for AC Milan in January and are now down to just Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero this summer.
It had of course been thought that a new arrival – preferably in the form of Edinson Cavani – would arrive at the Etihad Stadium, yet all has so far been quiet on the blue front.
Whilst the British press thought Tevez was yet to agree personal terms, their Italian counterparts were slightly more on the ball and reported that terms had been agreed and a move that could rise to £10 million has been negotiated.
The player himself noted: “I am delighted. I am very happy to be at Juve – as this is a great satisfaction for me.
“There was another offer, but Juve wanted me more than Milan. I will say everything else later.”
Tevez of course has spent a hit and miss time at City and whilst most fans will admit he is a top class forward, few are really sorry to see him go.
This does of course now raise speculation over the future of Edin Dzeko who now seems to have been granted a reprieve at the club and could well stay at least for the immediate future. Dzeko aside, the club will now look to bring in another forward – and hope that they can land one of the same quality in the next couple of months.
Manchester City fans. Are you sad to see Tevez depart this summer? Are you surprised he was let go for as little as £10 million? Let us know your thoughts below.
