There are some interested faces here in the Football Transfer Tavern and it is all down to the Daily Mirror.
The publication have claimed that Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott is once again attracting interest from West Ham United, who are willing to offer him a contract when his current deal expires.
It has been made perfectly clear by both Manchester City and Lescott himself that he does not have a future at the Etihad Stadium, and we think that in order to get those first team opportunities that he desires, a move to a club like West Ham could be ideal.
Sam Allardyce wants more defensive stability in his side and has outlined a swoop for the former Wolverhampton Wanderers defender. The fact that he is available on a free does not exactly do much harm either according to our landlord!
Lescott is 31 years of age and is willing to take a pay cut to join West Ham, who of course came in for the defender during the January transfer window.
However, on that occasion Manchester City were unwilling to sell the player given they were chasing the quadruple at the time – something that is not an issue now.
Is a summer switch to Upton Park simply a no brainer for Lescott at this stage of his career? Let us know your thoughts below.
