It was a quiet night at the Football Transfer Tavern, well; it was, until a rumour spread that Manchester City defender Pablo Zabaleta would rather surprisingly, one day, like to join Fiorentina according to Sky Sports.
Well, that was it, peanuts were thrown, bar stools knocked over and I’m pretty sure I saw a Manchester City sobbing as he selected ‘Blue Moon’ on the jukebox.
The Argentinean international has become something of a fan favourite at the Etihad Stadium and even earned a place in the ‘Premier League Team of the Season’ last campaign, so it is understandable that the blue half of Manchester will be gutted to read Zabaleta’s latest comments:
“Serie A is a major championship in which I’d like to play one day,” he told Sportitalia.
“Juventus, Inter and AC Milan are important clubs but I think Fiorentina are a very interesting team.
“I don’t know why but I have always liked Fiorentina since [Gabriel] Batistuta played there.”
Zabaleta joined in 2008 from Espanyol and, it seems, after FA Cup and Premier League winners medals that he’s starting to get ‘itchy feet’. Don’t worry City fans, all is not lost, our landlord has suggested that perhaps ol’ Manuel Pellegrini (great name for a beer, by the way) could use Pablo to knock a few digits off Stevan Jovetic’s price tag?
How many years has Pablo Zabaleta got left in him in the Premier League? Let us know your thoughts below.
