Manchester City star lined up for unlikely transfer reunion

FW - Alvaro Negredo

Manchester City fans are concerned here in the Football Transfer Tavern following reports from Metro that Real Madrid could be set to make a move for their former striker Alvaro Negredo.

The European champions have sold young striker Alvaro Morata to Juventus and have set their sights on the former Real Madrid B and Sevilla striker as a replacement.

The news has come just days after the forward – who has also been linked with Atletico Madrid this summer – revealed he is happy at the Etihad Stadium and isn’t looking to leave.

He said: “I don’t want to leave City, I’m very happy and settled here.

“I had a difficult end to the season and that’s why there’s been a lot of talking. But I’ve been very happy from the first day I arrived.”

Negredo completed a £16 million move from Sevilla last summer and made an explosive start to life in England.

The forward nicknamed ‘The Beast’ fired 23 goals last season – although his last goal came on January 21.

Atletico Madrid have also been looking at the striker as a possible replacement for Diego Costa, who has recently completed his move to Chelsea.

Both Madrid clubs are admirers of Negredo having watched him score goals regularly in La Liga during his time at Sevilla.

Manchester City fans. Do you think Negredo would turn down a move to Real Madrid were it to come about this summer? Won’t he be third choice behind Aguero and Dzeko next season? Let us know your thoughts below.
