While the shock defeat in the FA Cup to Wigan Athletic yesterday has left a sore taste in the mouth for Manchester City supporters in The Football Transfer Tavern , the big game of the week comes on Wednesday.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side travel to the Camp Nou trying to overturn a two goal deficit against Barcelona in the hope of progressing to the last eight of the Champions League.
One man who will certainly be key for their chances is striker Sergio Aguero and according to today’s Manchester Evening News Pellegrini is confident that the Argentine will be still at the club after the summer.
Aguero, who has averaged better than a goal every two matches for City since his transfer from Atletico Madrid in 2011, has been linked with a summer move to La Liga with both Real Madrid and Barca reportedly desperate to secure his signature.
However the Chilean manager believes that he won’t be departing.
“I don’t think the idea of Sergio is to leave Manchester City,” Pellegrini is quoted in the Sunday Mirror.
“Sergio is very happy here. You never know what can happen in the future, but he is a very important player here.
“Big clubs do not sell their best players and I don’t think Sergio will be going anywhere.”
The 25-year-old has hit 26 goals in just 25 appearances this term despite sitting out some of the season with injury and to lose him in the post-season would be massive blow for the Citizens.
We really hope that Kun does remain in the Premier League but what do you think? Let us know your thoughts below.
