Manchester City star represents Italians’ contingency plan

dzeko.jpgSerie A giants Napoli could look to Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko if they are unsuccessful in signing Arsenal and City target Stevan Jovetic, according to The Express.

The Italian club are set to sell world class striker Edinson Cavani during the summer transfer window with a reported £53 million transfer fee from Paris Saint-Germain received for the Uruguayan ace.

New Napoli manager Rafael Benitez now wants to replace Cavani with the Fiorentina forward Jovetic but will face fierce interest from the Premier League with both Arsenal and City interested.

If they fail to land the golden boy of Montenegrin football, Benitez could look to England with a possible move for Manchester City outcast Edin Dezko in the pipeline.

Dzeko has reportedly been told he can leave the Etihad Stadium by new City boss Manuel Pellegrini and the former Wolfsburg man could be heading to Italy.

Dzeko will be available for around £17 million as City try to sufficiently lessen the wage-bill at the Etihad Stadium.

Should City cash in on their Bosnian striker? Surely City must get another striker in before they consider selling? Let us know your thoughts below.
