And according to the Daily Express, Manchester City defender Micah Richards wants it to be the season that reignites his career and is looking to do that away from the Etihad Stadium.
Several clubs have approached the Citizens about signing Richards this summer including Liverpool who were thought to be the latest side to enquire.
Tottenham and Newcastle United are also reportedly interested in the 26-year old but all three sides are put off by his £7 million price tag.
Manchester City welcomed former Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna to their ranks earlier this summer so Richards has fallen even further down the pecking order.
And the defender, who is entering the final year of his contract at the club, is hoping the club will give him the loan move he desires.
But that would mean the club would essentially be letting him leave for free as he will be available on a free transfer this time next season.
Manchester City fans. Your club may be filthy rich, but surely letting Richards leave on loan would make poor financial sense. So what would you be prepared to sell him for? Let us know your thoughts below.
