Metro never fail to disappoint us here in the Football Transfer Tavern, and today is no different.
In news that will reassure Manchester City fans, the publication claims that David Silva will ignore any approach from Spanish giants Real Madrid and stick with the English club.
Quite why Real Madrid are sniffing around Silva when they have just bought Gareth Bale is a strange one in itself.
Then again, Bale is already being dubbed the new Kaka by the Spanish press after not featuring for the club apart from a couple of appearances and spending the rest of his time in the treatment room or on the bench.
Carlo Ancelotti has reportedly made Silva his top target for the winter and will stop at nothing to get him. One of our more indignant punters notes that the playmaker only penned a new deal at the club last September and that in itself was a five-year deal!
As we all know, Real Madrid will stop at nothing until they get their transfer targets, but it seems that for now, Spaniard Silva is happy in Manchester.
When asked about the links with Los Blancos, he noted: “I prefer not to say anything on the subject. I’m very happy in Manchester and I think this is similar to what happens every year.
“There are always rumours and, in the end, the player has to be calm. I renewed my contract because I am happy in Manchester.”
That may be good news for City fans, but as one punter notes, Real Madrid may be forced to turn their attentions to other targets – and Liverpool’s Luis Suarez will be top of that list.
Of course, had they kept Mesut Ozil, they would not even have to chase the likes of Silva!
Will Silva see out his contract with City? Let us know your thoughts below.
