The Brazilian midfielder has stated his desire to win as many trophies as possible at the Etihad and write himself into Manchester City folklore.
It was a first difficult season for Fernando in the Premier League as niggling injuries reduced him to just 22 apperances in the top flight.
However, the £12million signing from Porto impressed highly on Wednesday night with their 5-1 demolition of Crystal Palace in the Capital One Cup. Fernando was quoted by the Manchester Evening News as saying: ‘
My name will only be recognised in this club from the moment we actually start winning trophies, I know that I have to improve, but that is what I will keep doing. Only when we win things, and I am contributing something, will my name become known at this club.’
‘When you are not at 100 per cent it is hard, especially in the Premier League, and that is what happened to me last season. But I am back from my injury and playing well. I feel fit and that is the best aspect of it.’
