The odds of one Manchester City midfielder departing the Etihad Stadium this summer have dropped dramatically.
Sources at The Mirror have been informing the Football Transfer Tavern that Javi Garcia will not be joining Inter Milan this summer – according to the player’s agent.
The Spaniard has struggled for regular first team football at the Etihad since joining from Benfica in the summer of 2012, and has been widely tipped to move away when the transfer window re-opens.
Italian giants Inter Milan have been tipped to make a move for the 27-year-old, who has been behind Yaya Toure and Fernandinho in Manuel Pellegrini’s midfield pecking order all season.
Inter are planning a major rebuilding programme under new owner Erick Thohir in the summer, but Garcia may find he gets a chance to prove himself at the Etihad before the end of the season, with Yaya Toure set for a spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.
But despite the recent speculation, the Spaniard’s agent Manuel Garcia Quillon claims he will not be heading to Inter.
Quillon told Calcio Mercato: “There is absolutely nothing in it, no contact. Nobody has called me. Inter is not a possible hypothesis.”
