It’s been a big summer for Manchester City and manager Pep Guardiola, who has done more than his bit to improve his team’s ranks ahead of the Premier League opening weekend.
City have spent big in their pursuit of glory next season and former Barcelona manager Guardiola has invested heavily in defenders to ensure his team have enough quality to compete with their big rivals.
Of course, it’s not going to be easy for the Citizens and the City fans drinking at the bar know it’s not going to be easy in the slightest this campaign.
But one man that would make the journey a lot easier is Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe, who has been hotly linked with a move away from the Ligue 1 side this summer.
Whilst City are yet to make a concrete bid for the Frenchman, former Monaco attacker Bernardo Silva knows all about his talents and now he’s at City, he’d love to have his old friend and colleague join him.
Speaking to ESPN, Silva said: “I haven’t spoken to Mbappe — but he is a great player as well,” Silva told reporters following City’s 3-0 win over West Ham in Iceland on Friday. “I would love to have him here, and you never know, but that is for City to decide
“He can be a superstar — in fact, I think he is already a little bit of a superstar. He is a great player to play with because he is so intelligent with his movement,” he added.
There’s absolutely no doubting that Kylian Mbappe would strengthen most teams in the world but should he sign for the Citizens, that would probably mark one of the most remarkable pieces of transfer business we’ve ever seen.
He’s so talented and proved for Monaco last season that he has the quality to change any game quicker than the flash.
Of course, financial fair play might make it difficult to complete a deal but should City do it, they’d be a force to be reckoned with.
