Punters in the Football Transfer Tavern are looking up from their pints after the latest claim from the Daily Mirror.
The publication seems to think that Victor Valdes could well be on his way to Manchester City this summer. The Barcelona stopper is out of contract come the end of the season and has made it very clear that he will be leaving the Camp Nou.
One of our punters notes that we had initially linked the keeper with Arsenal – but now it seems that Manuel Pellegrini could well be set to make the player an offer to join him at the Etihad Stadium, leaving current number one Joe Hart’s place at the club in doubt once again.
Hart was dropped for a small period this season after a string of high profile errors and it has been made clear that despite the England number one earning his place back, the spotlight is still on bringing in reinforcements.
Valdes is open to a move to England, yet interested suitors City and Arsenal would have to battle Ligue 1 side Monaco who are also keen on landing the Barcelona keeper.
Over a pint, our landlord notes that securing a keeper as good as Valdes on a free would be a massive coup indeed for any club this summer.
Would you replace Hart with Victor Valdes or should the England number one keep his spot? Let us know your thoughts below.
