The name Edinson Cavani has cropped up inside the Football Transfer Tavern once again, with John Drayton of the Daily Mail reckoning Manchester City and Real Madrid are leading the chase for the forwards signature.
The 26-year-old has managed 29 goals in all competitions for Napoli this season, and has publicly said he is ready to leave the Stadio San Paolo, putting a host of Europe’s top clubs on red alert.
He told La Repubblica: “I’m fine in Naples, but in football there are lots of things to consider.
“I can only say that I will give my all in this shirt until the last day I wear it.
“Second place is not guaranteed, it’s up to us. We have to make it ours in the forthcoming matches.
“Actually, looking at the team above us (Juventus), not even the championship is decided. We will do everything we can.”
The Uruguayan has scored over 100 Serie A goals, during spells with Palermo and Napoli.
Manchester City have long been credited with an interest, with it apparent they are planning a big summer clear out with a top quality striker the number one priority.
Napoli have placed a £50 million price tag on Cavani’s head – a price you feel only City and possibly Chelsea from the Premier League would be willing to match.
But with managerial uncertainty surrounding Stamford Bridge, as well as in Madrid, City will be hopeful of getting in there first with a bid.
