The Daily Mail warn Manchester City fans in the Football Transfer Tavern that they face stiff competition from Bayern Munich as they chase Borussia Dortmund’s Marcos Reus who has a release clause of £19.5 million.
Dortmund are adamant to keep hold of their star man in January and insist he is going nowhere but they are resigned to losing him next summer due to the release clause in his contract, making a player of his quality seem like a bargain.
It is believed Bayern and City will go head-to-head in the battle to sign him the summer, despite the 25-year-old’s current contract expiring in 2017.
And City are preparing a £200,000-per-week deal to snap up the German international as they are aware of Bayern Munich’s financial presence.
But as both European giants go toe to toe to sign the flamboyant forward, Dortmund fans beg that he shows faith to their famoys ‘Yellow Wall’, hoping he doesn’t follow former team-mates Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski to the Allianz Arena.
But Bayern have unsettled Jurgen Klopp this week after their chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge openly talked about a move for Reus.
Earlier this week Rummenigge said: “We know in Munich that Reus has a lot of quality. For us a young German national player of such quality is interesting. But I do not want to cause unrest in Dortmund.”
