Manchester City fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have already experienced a busy summer with high profile arrivals and departures at the Etihad Stadium before the transfer window has even officially opened.
It appears that the club could busy once again with today’s Daily Mirror suggesting that City want to sign Sevilla striker Alvaro Negredo by paying the £18 million release clause for the former Real Madrid forward.
The Spanish international is attracting vast interest this summer as Sevilla look to cash in on the 27-year-old forward. West Ham United have already seen a £14.5 million bid turned down while Tottenham Hotspur and manager Andre Villas-Boas are understood to want the striker also.
Negredo, who will turn 28 in August, was the top homegrown goalscorer in Spain last season, with 25 of his 31 goals coming in La Liga.
He has reportedly informed Sevilla that he has the desire to sign for a club that will feature in the Champions League next season.
With available striking targets running low, is Negredo the forward City will look to replace Carlos Tevez with? Rate this rumour below.
