The Transfer Tavern came to a halt when we saw that Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini is set to make an ambitious bid for Bayern Munich stopper Manuel Neuer in January, as reported by The Express.
Neuer is widely thought to be the best goalkeeper in the world and so Munich would be reluctant to let him leave, although a world record £40 million bid is what City believe he is worth.
Unlike in the Premier League, the top clubs in Germany dominate their division leaving the goalkeeper a little cold at times which could make that record bid attractive to Munich and Neuer.
The news comes as a huge blow for England number one Joe Hart who is still sitting on the bench at City after making a number of errors over the past 12 months.
Hart is expected to come back into the City side sooner rather than later but if a deal for Neuer can be thrashed out, the talented stopper may have to look at his options in the summer.
