There is brilliant news for Manchester City fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern today as it has been claimed by the Daily Mail that the club are set to finalise a deal for Sevilla’s Jesus Navas.
This time last year, the club had just won their first league title and everything looked rosy at the Etihad Stadium. Cue one year on and the club are waiting to announce Manuel Pellegrini as their new manager and are prepared to give him the funds and the backing Roberto Mancini did not receive this time last season.
Now it seems that the arrival of Navas is imminent and the player is set to agree terms with the club after a fee of £22.9 million was reached with Sevilla.
Given the financial state of the Andalucian side, City had hoped to land the winger for slightly less than his buy out clause but the club held firm and given the other interested parties in the player, they had no choice but to pay top wack for the Spanish international.
Navas has been nothing but impressive in the last couple of seasons and not only is he tricky and has bundles of pace, he can also beat players and is a hard worker to top all that. As one of our punters quips, the club have got themselves a top signing there.
Do you think Navas was worth that money? Let us know your thoughts below.
