Manchester City fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are moving closer to the bar, not only to order another pint, but to hear the latest gossip from Metro.
The publication seem to think that the club are eyeing yet another goalkeeper.
Manuel Pellegrini is apparently keen on Ajax star Kenneth Vermeer, who has just announced that he plans on leaving the Dutch side.
City are of course in the market for a keeper after Joe Hart fell out of favour with his new manager and understudy Costel Pantilimon failed to convince during his spell between the sticks.
Vermeer is concerned about his chances when it comes to the World Cup this summer after falling out of favour at Ajax and City feel that they could not only get the keeper for a bargain deal, but that he would also provide competition to current number one Pantilimon.
The Citizens have also been linked with Iker Casillas, who is currently fighting for his future at Real Madrid. The club are willing to listen to offers for the Los Blancos legend, who has come out and stated that Real Madrid are his life and he could not imagine going elsewhere.
As one of our punters quips, it is little wonder then that City are considering other options, and Arsenal may have to do the same.
