Manchester City would be wise to secure deal for 24-year-old custodian during the summer

The Manchester City supporters here in the Football Transfer Tavern have been toasting a superb 5-0 win over Crystal Palace this weekend, although it only serves to put paper over the cracks on an otherwise disappointing campaign.

Okay so the Citizens look on course to finish inside the top four of the division and qualify for the Champions League but in hindsight this season should have offered so much more.

Pep Guardiola was expected to take the Premier League by storm during this season but he hasn’t found things quite so easy in England as he has in other countries and next season looks to be massive.

One department in which the Spanish boss must look to strengthen during the summer is between the posts, with City scratching around for a consistent keeper throughout the current campaign.

Joe Hart will return from his season-long loan but with Guardiola seemingly not fancying the England stopper, it remains to be seen who will keep goal for the Citizens during 2017/18.

Our regular City supporting drinkers here in the Tavern have been enjoying a marathon drinking session at the landlord’s cocktail bar and they have been discussing several goalkeepers who could keep goal for City next season.

One man who has been right at the forefront of their discussions is Stoke City man Jack Butland, who recently returned from a long-standing ankle injury.

Butland looks destined to play for one of the country’s top clubs and City would be wise to sign the young goalkeeper not only for his undoubted ability at keeping goal but also to help the Citizens meet the relevant homegrown criteria.

Our landlord has overheard these discussions and he completely agrees that Butland would be a quality acquisition for the club, also statig that he probably wouldn’t break the bank either.

Manchester City fans, would you be happy with Butland in goal next season? Let us know in the comments below!!!
