Punters in the Transfer Tavern have been delighted as Manchester City youngster Enes Ünal has revealed that he snubbed Premier League rivals Chelsea in the summer in order to complete a move to the Etihad.
Ünal told the Turkish Football Federation of his decision to snub the Blues, which has seen him become a pub favourite.
The Turk highlighted City’s enthusiasm and determination to sign him as one of the key reasons behind his decision. With City opening the City Football Academy, their new state-of-the-art £200 million training complex, last season, the 18-year old was convinced by the legacy that City are striving to create.
Having revealed that he snubbed Chelsea, Ünal will surely be even better off in City fans’ minds, after he heavily impressed during his three appearances in City’s pre-season tour of Australia.
Ünal, a powerful forward, cost the Blues £2 million to sign from Bursaspor, before being sent out on a two-year long loan deal to Belgian side Genk.
The punters in the Tavern are sure to rub salt into Chelsea fans wounds, after their Champions League defeat on Tuesday evening.
