£90m-rated ace in, 29-year-old out: This proposed swap deal would be good for Man City

Manchester City supporters in the Transfer Tavern have been looking back and digesting their team’s sensational season so far, with their side well-placed to achieve huge success both domestically and in Europe.

Pep Guardiola’s men have all but sealed the Premier League title given they are 16 points clear of neighbours Manchester United with just 11 matches to go, while the Citizens face Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday hoping to pave the way for further trophy success between now and the end of the season. And with the North West outfit all but booking their spot in the last eight of the Champions League with a 4-0 success at Basel last week, things are looking very good indeed for our resident City fans ahead of the final few months of the campaign.

Subsequently, there are many happy Citizens supporters in the Tavern at present, with several responding and addressing recent reports suggesting that striker Sergio Aguero could be involved in a potential swap deal with Chelsea’s Eden Hazard this summer.

And while losing Aguero would certainly be a loss for Guardiola’s side, gaining Hazard from a Premier League title contender would represent good business for the champions-elect.

Ultimately, there is no doubting that Aguero has helped the club achieve a huge amount since his move from Atletico Madrid back in 2011, netting 198 goals in just 286 games for the club to help them to two Premier League titles, as well as two League Cup crowns.

And the Argentine looks set to fire City to further success this term, but the striker will turn 30 in June, and has a history of niggling injury issues which are sure to be of concern to Guardiola ahead of the next few years.

And with Gabriel Jesus making his mark in English football in the last 12 months or so, Aguero is no longer indispensable, with the former certainly proving that he can be the main man at City having scored 17 goals in 38 games prior to injury.

Whereas Hazard is certainly the main man at Chelsea, having scored 15 goals and laid on nine assists for the Blues this term, adding to the 16 goals he bagged in their run to the Premier League title last season.

Arguably, alongside City’s Kevin De Bruyne, the Belgium international is the best player in the Premier League and one of a very select few in that world-class bracket – while City have a plethora of attacking talent, Hazard would still make them better he is that good.

But from a City point of view, luring Hazard away from Stamford Bridge would also weaken a title rival, as although Aguero would be going in return, everything good about Chelsea comes through Hazard.

So while losing Aguero to Chelsea in normal circumstances would be a bad move for Guardiola’s side, landing Hazard in return surely wouldn’t be, as not only would he improve City, his departure would significantly hinder the Blues, and thus a title rival.

Thus, swapping the 29-year-old with the £90 million-rated ace (as per Transfermarkt) would be a good deal for City this summer.
