Having already landed Ederson this summer, the Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern are absolutely delighted to see Pep Guardiola admitting his mistake in having signed Claudio Bravo.
The Chilean stopper endured a miserable season in England after joining from Barcelona and looked to have been relegated to second-choice following the arrival of the aforementioned Brazilian. However, as if that wasn’t good enough, reports from ESPN have excited our resident Citizens even more.
They claim the Etihad giants are closing in on a deal for Pepe Reina, formerly of Liverpool. The Spaniard, currently with Napoli, worked with Guardiola at Bayern Munich and has also been linked with a move to Newcastle United this summer.
City are understood to have seen a £2.6m offer snubbed by the Serie A club, who reportedly want £4.4m for the World Cup winner. Still, there is believed to be an expectancy that a deal will be pushed through.
The former Spanish international is apparently expected to become Ederson’s No.2, a notion greeted with a loud cheer amongst our City-mad supporters, who hope they’ve seen the back of Bravo.
