Man City have snapped up plenty of talented youngsters in recent years, and one of the standouts amongst this group is Swedish teenager John Guidetti.
Guidetti has impressed on recent loans to Burnley and Brommapojkarna (glad I’m typing that instead of trying to say), but has stepped it up to a new level this season. He is on loan to Dutch legends Feyenoord, where he has scored an astonishing 17 goals in 15 games (including 3 hat-tricks in his last 5 games!).
This astonishing form has lead to strong interest from Bayern Munich, who the Mirror reports recently sent a scouting team to watch the striker.
Bayern’s youth coach Bjorn Andersson confirmed the clubs interest, telling Dutch paper De Telegraaf, “We are looking at him and a striker at Montpellier, (Olivier) Giroud, very closely.”
Despite Guidetti’s claims in this interview that he still has a good relationshoip with the City and hopes for a future with the club, he may have realised he faces a near impossible task to break into City’s first team. He has thus far only managed 1 first team appearance and will surely be hoping for a chance to move away.
In fact he already did jump at such a chance last summer, where he almost moved to fellow Dutch team FC Twente, only for the deal to collapse at the last moment for due to contract confusion.
City fans may not miss him much right now, but Guidetti looks set to grow into quite the player, and in a may well come back to haunt City in the future.
