Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern have wandered over to their Huddersfield Town counterparts this morning to discuss an intriguing story that has come all the way from down under.
Australia’s BeIN Sports reports that an unnamed Championship side had an offer of around £7m for Manchester City’s Australian international Aaron Mooy rejected during the January transfer window by the Citizens.
26-year-old Mooy, impressing on-loan at Championship high-fliers Sunderland, has attracted interest from rivals sides during the past month but City are not keen on cashing-in, with Pep Guardiola considering recalling the international midfielder earlier this window.
With Mooy crucial to Huddersfield’s push for promotion to the Premier League, the decision was made to keep the Australian in Yorkshire until the end of the season. However, interest in Mooy is believed to be rising across the top-two divisions.
Our landlord feels Mooy won’t be a Manchester City player for too long and expects a Premier League side to sign him at the end of the season, saying he’s too good to play in the Championship.
A host of Huddersfield fans in the corner of the Tavern have been raving about Mooy all season, with them all admitting he is undoubtedly one of the most underrated players in the whole of the English Football League.
