Although Manchester City are a team which have spiralled to success within the last decade, the club’s history may reveal a lot more than you think.

The Citizens first recorded game was played way back in 1880 with the team under the name of St Mark’s. Bumpy fields, cricket venues, City’s early days were conventional of teams starting up around that era.

Now, in 2017, they stand as the sixth most valuable football club in the world, according to Forbes, with a total worth of $1.9 billion (£1.5 billion.)

Since 2010, City have racked up an impressive five major trophies under their belt, two of which were the Premier League.

Currently sitting second in the league, and in the round of 16 of both the FA Cup (with a replay for the last eight) and Champions League, it’s possible that City could even rack up more trophies by the end of the season.
