‘Disgracing us’, ‘It’s over’ – Man City fans turn on Guardiola after last night’s horror show

The Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern are waking up this morning finally knowing what it feels like to get thumped in a football match. Pep Guardiola’s men were well beaten 3-0 at Anfield and their 5th loss of the season provided their first loss by a margin greater than one goal. The loss has had a number of fans questioning Guardiola for the first time in his tenure at The Etihad.

The City fans propping our bar will already be planning for next Tuesday’s return leg in Manchester and whilst the odds are stacked against them, they’re far from out of the tie considering how devasting they’ve been for most of the season. The Sky Blues will also take reassurance from the fact that the last time the two teams met at The Etihad the game finished 5-0 in City’s favour. Both sides will give it absolutely everything on Tuesday as a place in the last four of Europe’s greatest club competition is the prize.

The Manchester City faithful will be hoping they can rely on Guardiola to get it right next week. The Spaniard’s set up in Liverpool had them fighting an uphill battle very early on and the crowd sensed it, with the Kop getting behind their men and getting on the backs of the Citizens. In fairness to City, they did well to contain Liverpool after Sadio Mane scored the third goal and a number of fans believe that City should’ve finished the game with an away goal after Leroy Sane was dubbed to be offside as he set up Gabriel Jesus after 80 minutes.
