Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern have a beaming smile across their faces, after hearing a heavily discussed transfer was now official.
The Citizens confirmed on their official website that Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus had completed his registration and signed for the club, after spending the first-half of the season with former side Palmeiras.
An agreement with the Brazilian side was reached last summer, making Jesus the sixth signing of the Guardiola era, but the youngster remained in South America until the end of the Brazilian football season.
Now, after helping Palmeiras win their first title since 1994, the 19-year-old arrives in European football and is available to make his debut this weekend in a huge clash against Tottenham Hotspur.
Speaking after the move, Jesus said:
“I want to win titles and Manchester City is a club that is used to winning.”
“City is a Club that always competes for the title in the competitions it enters, so that was an important factor, and because of the manager, Guardiola, and the squad.”
Our landlord is excited to see the young talent this season, after first becoming aware of the player during last summer’s Olympics, but feels this weekend might come a tad early.
