The Manchester City fans within the Transfer Tavern have been ecstatic all season and although Man United delayed the inevitable, City will soon officially been crowned champions of the Premier League.
The Citizens have simply been no match for any other team in the league, storming their way to the helm of English football once again. Their massive spending last summer certainly helped and City managed to utilise their big budget well, bringing in quality players like Kyle Walker and Ederson, who have had a real impact on ensuring success this year.
Despite securing the Premier League title in a matter of weeks, City will be sure to spend money again this upcoming transfer window, in the hope they can remain number one once again. Us punters have been discussing who exactly Man City should target and with the heavy links to Fred in the summer, we think that instead of the Brazilian, the Citizens should target his teammate and fellow Brazilian, Bernard.
The 25-year-old is valued at £14.40 million on Transfermarkt and this summer spells the end of his contract with Shakhtar Donetsk, meaning City or any other team would be free to sign him. The pacey, agile winger has had another good season, scoring 10 goals in 29 appearances thus far.
Man City will be familiar with the 25-year-old after this season’s Champions League group-stage, where Bernard scored in Shakhtar’s 2-1 over City. His skills and flair on the ball would be a desirable want for any team but with the lure that Manchester City have, we believe this could be a transfer that works well for both parties.
