Our Manchester City fans here in the Transfer Tavern have had to go through some serious ribbing today after their side crashed out of Europe.
Indeed, going into the game last night against Monaco the Citizens had a 5-3 lead to protect but they were ridiculously cavalier and lost 3-1 to go out on away goals.
For sure, Pep Guardiola will not have been impressed with what he would have seen with the Citizens’ defence once again coming into some pretty negative limelight.
It really does seem, then, that an overhaul is needed at the back for the club with their goalkeepers for sure needing upgrading.
Fortunately enough for City fans, then, Portuguese outlet Record (via Sport Witness,) has claimed that a gentleman’s agreement is in place for City to sign Ederson from Benfica.
The young goalkeeper has continued to impress over in Portugal this year and certainly looks a more solid option than Claudio Bravo.
Then again, covering the goal with tracing paper would probably repel more shots than Bravo so it remains to be seen what impact Ederson has.
