Manchester City supporters have been making all the noise in the Transfer Tavern this week after seeing their side win the Carabao Cup courtesy of an easy 3-0 victory over Arsenal in the final at Wembley on Sunday.
Pep Guardiola’s men got past West Brom, Wolves, Leicester City, and Bristol City to reach the first cup final of the season, and they duly delivered their first trophy under the Spaniard with a dominant display at the national stadium. Goals from Sergio Aguero, Vincent Kompany, and David Silva secured a routine success for the Citizens, in turn sealing their third League Cup crown in the last five years, at the same time completing the first leg of a possible treble.
Subsequently, there have been many delighted City fans in the Tavern in the last few days, and the good news looks set to keep on coming if a recent report from The Daily Mail is anything to go by, which suggests that starlet Phil Foden is in line for a new deal at the Etihad Stadium.
The 17-year-old came up through the ranks at the North West outfit to earn his senior debut for the club back in their Champions League group stage clash with Feyenoord in November last year, from which he has since added a further five first team appearances.
And manager Guardiola and the club’s hierarchy are clearly happy with what they’ve seen as reports suggest that the England Under-17 World Cup winner is set for a new long-term deal at the Premier League champions-elect when he turns 18 in May.
And given his progress so far, and the immense amount of potential the midfielder has, this news is sure to delight our resident Citizens supporters.
Landlord’s verdict: Phil Foden has enjoyed a wonderful 12 months for both club and country, making his senior debut for Manchester City in the Champions League back in November, as well as winning the Under-17 World Cup with England last summer.
And things looks set to get even better for the 17-year-old, as reports suggest that he is set for a new long-term deal with the Citizens when he turns 18 in May.
And with City fans celebrating their side’s Carabao Cup success on Sunday, it appears that the good news keeps on coming for our resident Citizens supporters, many of whom are expecting big things from Foden in the years to come.
