Manchester City fans in the Football Transfer Tavern think that Kelechi Iheanacho should be given a chance under Pep Guardiola next season, but are unsure whether the new manager will agree with their thoughts.
Still, MEN reports today that the youngster may in fact miss out on the Citizens pre season preparations and one or two fixtures in August, as the Nigerian olympic committee want the 19-year-old to feature for their side in the Rio Olympics, this summer.
The talented ten himself will likely want to stay, he will be keen to show the new manager what he can offer to the side; in missing pre season, the youngster will face a set back in trying to prove to Guardiola that he deserves a chance in the first team.
However, at this year’s Olympics, clubs are not under obligation to let theirs players go and it seems in the interests of both player and manager that Iheanacho stay and train with the first team ahead of an exciting Premier League season.
The 19-year old emerged as a more dynamic backup to star man Sergio Aguero than £28m star Wilfried Bony last season under Manuel Pellegrini, notching 14 goals in all competitions last term.
Can Iheanacho establish himself as City’s second striker next term?
